Today’s Koret...
Casual, comfortable, quality
clothing for misses, women’s
and petites.
Who we are and what we’re about
Koret was founded in 1938 by Joseph and Stephanie Koret. In a small loft in San Francisco, the Korets designed and produced coordinating skirts and sweaters that were fashionable yet colorful and comfortable. Sales of their designs were so strong that they expanded their line to include coordinated collections: pants, skirts, woven shirts, knit tees, jackets and sweaters.
Known then and now for quality, comfort and value, a dedication to innovation
has also been paramount to Koret’s success. In 1961, Koret became the first
ladies apparel manufacturer to develop garments using a post-cure process
resulting in wrinkle free clothing. The weekend wear, easy care separates
were named Francisca by Koret -- a brand still popular today.
City Blues by Koret became the very popular denim sportswear line.
The brand, then and now, provides women with easy care,
casual denim pants and skirts with coordinating tops.
Finally, a non-jean, great-fitting casual denim option for women!
In the early 80’s, Koret became one of the first coordinated sportswear
lines to extend beyond misses sizes. Koret special size lines were launched,
and they continue to be an important part of our company today. Koret Petite and
Koret Woman brands, in addition to proportioned pants in misses sizes,
truly fit women of all shapes and sizes!
In the mid 90’s, Koret partnered with DuPont TeflonTM
to become one of the first women’s apparel brands to use a stain resistant finish on clothing.
The KorapelTM treatment is still used today.
In 1999, Koret was acquired by the Kellwood Company.
Today, Koret continues to provide quality ladies apparel with style,
comfort and value for today’s women with today’s lifestyle.
